Harned Fowler VFW Charity Painting
Maintaining the momentum started by the painting
of the Arlington Food Shelf, Luxbrush Painting once again rolled up their sleeves
and dove into the the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 in Manchester, Vermont.

The slowing economy had reduced the post's income
over the past few years - however, post members still felt strongly about
keeping community contributions at the same level. The decision left the Post's
coffers empty - meaning that general maintenance and small repairs to their
meeting hall were often pushed aside in favor of charitable projects.
Focusing on two key trouble spots-the kitchen and hallway-
Luxbrush employees, John Grover, Scott Jaeger, Tim Mahoney, and Robert Woods,
stripped wallpaper, removed mold, cleaned, prepped and painted.
The result? A fresh, clean white kitchen and a welcoming
front entryway that will be greeting guests for many years to come.

Luxbrush Paints Arlington Food Shelf
After announcing the Arlington Food Shelf as one of
the winners of their 3rd Annual Charity Painting Giveaway, the staff of Luxbrush
Painting Co., Inc. wasted no time in wielding their paintbrushes to give the food
distribution center a much needed facelift.

The project became a community event when Luxbrush sought
the support and involvement of local vendors. Rk Miles Paint Department happily
provided the wall paint. Sherwin Williams in Rutland donated the ceiling
paint and sundries. And Miles Lumber of Arlington contributed the finishing
touch: the quarter round molding to be installed along the ceiling line.
Within a few days, Luxbrush employees transformed both
the dingy yellow ochre food distribution room and an adjacent sitting room,
into a welcoming oasis of pale blue walls and sparkling clean white ceilings.
"This is great," Food Shelf President Jack Gunther
commented,"It's hard enough to ask for food, let alone doing so in a drab,
cold location. With gas and home heating oil at an all-time high, more and
finding it tougher to feed their families. The new paint job will make the
Shelf much more approachable."
The Arlington Food Shelf is a completely volunteer endeavor that serves 160 to
200 individuals from the Arlington, Sandgate, and Sunderland areas each month.
Located across the street from the East Arlington Fire House, food distribution
occurs on the first and third Tuesday of every month, between the hours of 1:30
and 4pm.

Luxbrush Employees Named Craftsmen of the Year
Luxbrush Crew Leaders Travis Senecal and
Kristoffer Kuebler were two of the five recipients of the Painting and
Decorating Contractors of America's 2008 L.E. Travis Jr.Craftsman of the Year Award.

individuals who demonstrate, through their work, the highest levels
of painting and decorating craftsmanship. Nominees are judged in 11 categories,

Both Kristoffer and Travis were on hand for the awards ceremony
which took place at the 2008 PACE Convention in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to
commemorative plaques, the winners receive prize packages from Purdy and Wooster,
a feature article in DECO magazine, and free registration for PACE 2009

Congratulations, Travis and Kris!
We are indeed lucky to have you as part of the Luxbrush team.
Luxbrush Paintings 3rd Annual Charity
Paint Project WINNERS!
After an extremely
close competition, the winners of the 3rd Annual Luxbrush Charity Painting
Giveaway have been announced. And, in typical Luxbrush fashion, our employees
had such difficulty in selecting just one winner, that they selected three.
In New York, the Cohoes
Multi Service Senior Citizens Center impressed us with their community
service. Offering home-delivered meals to housebound citizens, adult day care,
health screening, socialization activities and free transportation to seniors
who may be unable to drive, the center needs an interior as warm and welcoming
as the people who work there. Likewise, it's a great way to honor Executive
Director Michael Cooley as he retires after 30 years of service.
In Manchester,
the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471, has been giving to state, community, youth,
veterans and military causes since 1946. Some of the groups and activities
sponsored by the post are Manchester Food Closet, Manchester Health Services,
Dorset Visiting and Bennington County Meals on Wheels. A fresh coat of paint
in the legion hall would do wonders in increasing the rentability of the space,
which will, in turn, generate the funds the post donates to the community.
And, finally,
south of Manchester, the Arlington Food Shelf provides food to the
communities of Arlington, Sunderland and Sandgate. According to President
Jack Gunther, nearly 200 people with low incomes depend on food distributed
by the food shelf. The food shelf takes cash and food donations from the
community and distributes food to households depending on need.
Congratulations
to our winners and a round of applause for all our nominees. The hard
and dedication demonstrated by these organizations prove that the spirit of
giving exists, not just at the holidays, but all year round.
